The body of a drowned 69-year-old woman reported missing by her husband was found in a Surrey canal by Walton firefighters.
Elizabeth Fitt, from Camberley, was found in the Basingstoke Canal between Mytchett and Ash in the early hours of Tuesday, October 24.
The Walton crew were called out to use specialist water rescue equipment after police could not find the body after searching on land near Mytchett Palace Road.
Elizabeth Fitt, from Camberley, drove into Mytchett with her husband at 9pm on October 23 but failed to meet again at 11pm as arranged after a walk alongside the Basingstoke canal.
Ian Pompei from Walton fire station said: "This was a massive incident for the Walton crew. Although the water rescue vehicle and equipment is stored at our station, it is a county-wide resource. The fire crew commenced their search at 2.30am and located the body about 2.40am in the canal. They then assisted with retrieving the body from the water to the canal bank."
Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
