I note Wandsworth Council's recent comments regarding the proposed closure of Bolingbroke Hospital.
It goes without saying that all efforts to maintain and improve local health services are to be welcomed. However, I note that the council's standpoint seems to be consistent with its attitude to public services, ie demand improvements in those you don't provide, while cutting your own services to the bare bones (and beyond!).
While many people will understandably oppose the proposed sale of the hospital building, they should be grateful it was never under Wandsworth's control. If it was, they would have sold it off for luxury flats in the dim and distant past.
