Calling all budding actors and actresses; auditions are kicking off this month for a new play performed by Theatre 62.
Helene Hanff's 84 Charing Cross Road is a true story about a struggling American writer shortly after World War II, who, in hoping to indulge her love of beautiful books, started a correspondence with a firm of British antiquarian booksellers.
The exchange lasted 20 years and warm and compassionate series of letters was published and has now been lovingly adapted for the stage.
The play is due for performance during April 2007, and Theatre 62 happily welcomes new members, whether acting or non-acting.
Theatre 62, Wickham Theatre Centre, Corkscrew Hill; Tuesday, November 14 and Monday, November 20, 8pm and Sunday, 19 November at 3pm; call Ann Herbert on 020 8464 1609 or director Bill Morley on 01689 834009.
