Stoneleigh will be lit up for Christmas for the first time in 10 years due to the generosity of councillors, shops and residents.
Christmas lights will be going up along the length of Stoneleigh Broadway, from December 7, thanks to a financial boost from Epsom and Ewell councillors Mike Teasdale, Eber Kington, Chris Frost, David Wood, Colin Taylor, from local shops, and donations from the Stoneleigh and Auriol Residents’ Association.
A large Christmas tree, which has been donated by Court Farm Garden Centre in Tolworth, is also being put up outside Budgens.
Coun Teasdale, who helped buy the lights and put them up, said: "Due to the hard work and financial input of a lot of people and a number of local shops we have managed to raise the funds to improve the look of Stoneleigh Broadway this Christmas and in the future.
"Residents and shoppers will notice the extra pizzazz surrounding the Broadway and it will hopefully make shopping a more enjoyable experience."
The mayor will be visiting the Broadway on December 7 at 5pm and is expected to make a speech at 5.30pm.
Shops on the street will also stay open late and there will be stalls, choirs, food, live music, street clowns and Father Christmas entertaining shoppers from 4pm until 8pm.
