Snowfall overnight has not caused serious disruption this morning, with roads and rail lines open and no reports of school closures in Surrey.

Train services are reportedly running as normal.

A fleet of gritters were out on key roads in the east of Surrey last night after preparing for action before the weekend.

Surrey County Council had announced that 39 gritters and a mountain of salt were on 24/7 standby in the face of possible snowfall.

Teams have been refilling its grit bins since the last bout of snow in January and 16,000 tonnes of salt were stockpiled before the winter.
