A stunning lion dance, delicious food and Chinese calligraphy came to Wimbledon at the weekend on the eve of Chinese New Year.
Love Wimbledon, the business improvement district, laid on red lanterns and authentic dance on Friday February 8 and Saturday, September 9.
Chinese New Year fell on Sunday this year, which is the Year of the Snake.
The lion dance also paraded the streets; stopping to delight those by Wimbledon station, before moving on the Centre Court shopping centre.
The Polka children’s theatre will continue the Oriental theme with a new play entitled When the lion danced, beginning on February 20.
Chris O’Kelly, the theatre’s marketing manager, said: "For generations Polka has been entertaining local children with world-class theatre and attracting families to visit Wimbledon from all over London and beyond.
"As a non-profit organisation at the heart of the community, our partnership with Love Wimbledon is hugely important."
