More than 50 music students from ACS Cobham International School took part in an annual candlelit concert, performing a wide variety of music for parents and staff.
The concert involved high school students, aged 14 to 18, including the high school singers, jazz band and chamber ensemble, performing a variety of musical pieces.
The candlelit concert also provided the opportunity for International Baccalaureate music students to showcase the work they have been preparing throughout the year.
Adding an unusual twist, the concert was held in the school’s Cafetorium, with parents invited to bring their own food and drink, creating a picnic ambience for the evening.
Zoe Lees, head of music, said: “The idea for the concert first came about 11 years ago, as a way of encouraging parents to attend and support the school and its students. The candlelit concert is my favourite event of the year as I love the relaxed setting.
“All the students performed exceptionally well – they’d been preparing for this since August, so I’m really proud of them.”
Next year’s candlelit concert will be held in the school new 500-seat auditorium, part of ACS’s new performing arts centre.
Darryl Nel, newly appointed head of performing arts at ACS Cobham, said: “The Candlelit Concert is always one of the school’s most highly-anticipated events. I’m really pleased with all the effort the students have put in to the show and they should all be incredibly proud of their hard work.”
