In response to recent letters on 20mph zones.
There isn’t a large demand for them as has been suggested. I think most people do not want them.
The only place they are justified is near schools. They are frankly a waste of tax payers money.
The limits are not policed or adhered to.
Plus the main problem here is not motorists, it’s pedestrians. How many accidents are caused because someone is texting/phoning/listening to loud music? I often see people just cross roads without looking.
So, let’s have some educating of pedestrians instead, and stop wasting money converting roads to 20 mph zones.
