To mark the beginning of the year of the snake, Sunrise Senior Living of Weybridge hosted a themed afternoon social to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Sunrise opened its doors to friends, family and neighbours for a cultural celebration, Chinese dancing and a range of oriental delicacies including fortune cookies and tea.
There was also a Sunrise cake which was specially made, with Sunrise written in Chinese.
The visiting Chinese dancer, a member of the Sunrise of Weybridge team, was Caiyn Wang.
Ms Wang is a professional dancer and teaches traditional Chinese dancing. She performed three dances and wore three different traditional Chinese outfits.
Sally Login, 87, a Sunrise resident, said: “It was lovely to see the traditional Chinese dancing. It was elegant and different and we were all left mesmerised. It was such a wonderful afternoon, we all could have watched for hours.”
Michelle Wells, community relations associate at Sunrise of Weybridge, said: “The residents really enjoyed themselves and we had a full-house. Culture is an important part of Sunrise of Weybridge.
“Events and activities like these always provide a fun and engaging way for our residents to continue expanding their horizons.”
