Robbers threatened supermarket workers with a knife and hammer before walking out with cash.

Two men entered a Co-Op store, in Ewell High Street, on Tuesday, February 12, at 10.40pm and threatened two members of staff with the weapons before leaving with cash. 

There were no customers in the store at the time and no one was injured.

Both robbers were white, in their late 20s to early 30s, slim, about 5ft 10ins, and spoke with southern accents.  They were wearing black trousers and hooded tops with the hoods pulled up, dark gloves and face masks.

Police officers searched the surrounding area after the robbery but the men were not found.

Detective Inspector Oana King said: "This was a frightening ordeal for the people involved and no doubt the incident will stay with them for some time which is why we will do everything we can to catch those responsible and bring them to justice."

Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Inspector Craig Knight said police officers would be carrying out patrols in the area to reassure the public and address their concerns.
