An artist from Weybridge will be holding her first solo art exhibition in Walton, and will make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jane Atherhold paints a wide range of subjects, and enjoys landscape scenes the most. Drawing inspiration from nature, Atherhold is especially interested in the influence of light.

Capturing mood and atmosphere through establishing a sense of place and use of tone and colour are elements which Atherhold strives to achieve in her work.

The exhibition will feature London by Night, a series of evocative black and white paintings, a colourful collection of landscapes and rural villages in the Dordogne, iconic images of South Africa as well as an array of lively abstracts.

Atherhold grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and graduated from Rhodes University with a degree in fine art (painting) in 1990.

Shortly afterwards, she moved to Weybridge where after 16 years as a working mother, resumed painting full-time.

Each year Atherhold donates one of her painting to a good cause in the area, and this year plans to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support.

In 2011, she donated a painting to the Weybridge Cricket Club to help raise funds for the new cricket practice nets, and in 2012, a painting was donated to Sam Beare Hospice and was auctioned at their annual ball.
