The driver of a car which crashed in Purley, leaving one woman dead has been released on police bail.
The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after the crash in Godstone Road, early on Saturday morning.
The accident happened just after 4am, when a red Citroen Saxo struck two pedestrians.
One of the pedestrians, a 40-year-old woman died at the scene and the other pedestrian, a man, was taken to hospital with a shoulder injury.
A 26-year-old man and 20-year-old woman who were travelling in the car were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
A police spokesman confirmed they await formal identification and a post-mortem would take place in due course.
The driver was bailed until the end of April pending investigations.
