Tributes have flooded in to the teenager found stabbed to death in the stairwell of a block of flats.
Peter Hagan, 16, of Brixton, was found with multiple stab wounds in Albon House, Neville Gill Close, at 1.30am yesterday.
It is believed the former South Thames College pupil, cousin of murdered Croydon rapper Carl Beaston Asiedu, was attending a party at a flat in the ground floor block.
This morning neighbours waking up to the news said the incident has shocked the whole community.
Ian Tsang, 20, who lives in the block, said: "It was shocking, you don't expect to see it in your own block of flats.
"Sometimes you see people selling weed, but not someone's life being taken away."
Another neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said a knife was found underneath her friend's car parked outside.
She said: "There was a party in Albon House. There was an argument that kicked off outside.
"A 16 year old boy got stabbed a few times, walked into the block, that's where he was found - the argument started in the party."
Another passer-by said: "The kids are crazy, there is no parental guidance. The parents don't have power to control their kids.
"They are always on the streets running up and down. It is so sad, he was only 16."
A spokesperson for South Thames College said: "We were saddened to hear the news of Peter Hagan’s death and our sympathies are with his family and friends.
"We can confirm that Peter enrolled as a student in September 2012 and attended the College for a brief period.
"We are working with staff to ensure that we can support any students particularly affected by this tragedy."
Friends and family have been posting tributes to the murdered teen on social networking websites.
Taylor Mde Bunmi wrote on Twitter: "Seriously I am absorbed with shock. RIP Peter Hagan, Your the Lords newest angel. May your soul rest in perfect peace."
"People be careful the unexpected is only around the corner, protect yourself and do what you know is right."
Another Twitter account set up in the dead teenagers name posted: "Things are just gonna get worst, only a number of us will make it to 20 years of age."
Mr Hagan has two brothers and one sister, while his cousin who performed under the name Charmz was stabbed to death outside a nightclub in 2009.
Nine people have been arrested in connection with the incident and eight have been bailed pending further enquiries.
However, one person remains in police custody.
