MP Justine Greening was on hand on Friday to open Putney's new post office.
To celebrate the launch of the new style open-plan branch, subpostmaster Sangeeta Patel was joined by Ms Greening and Councillor Ravi Govindia, the leader of Wandsworth Council.
The new building, at Vetry’s Convenience store, 197 Upper Richmond Road, is about 150 yards away from the previous post office.
Ms Greening, who was appointed minister for International Development in September, said: "Putney was overdue a modern and well-equipped post office and I am delighted the Post Office has relocated to the new site.
"This new Post Office with longer opening hours and improved accessibility will provide a service that meets the need of local residents and businesses.
Subpostmistress Mrs Patel, said: "Customers are very happy with their new Post Office as it lovely - bright, modern and warm.
"There are familiar faces as staff have moved from the former Putney Post Office site."
Also in attendance were Norman Frost, Wandsworth Council’s business development manager, and Simon Wallace, Putney town centre manager.
The new opening hours are Monday to Friday 7am-7pm; Saturday 9am to 5.30pm.
