The Day the Music Died? NO! The Music Lives On.
I was very disappointed to read that the Rotary Club of Carshalton Beeches has decided to cease running this event. It has been a great attraction for the area for many years.
However, all is not lost. There is still a music event taking place this year that is "just over the borough borders". For the last 17 years Music in Nork Park has been attracting crowds of over 2000 people for an afternoon in the Park with a variety of music for all tastes.
The style is different in that we produce a variety of acts rather than the stylised "Last Night"
Last year we had three tribute acts: Elvis Presley as performed by Ben Thompson who is recognised as the best in the UK, 2nd overall in Europe (2013) and highly rated world-wide.
Julie Andrews as performed by Sarah Pullen from Carshalton Pantomime and local rep. Nat King Cole as performed by Colin Roy who is well known on the cabaret circuit.
This year again all three will be performing alongside the 7T Group and RBC Gospel Choir. Also joining us will be the Redhill Corps of Drums and band to open the proceedings. The venue is Nork Park, in Nork Way, Banstead. The date is always the third Sunday in July which this year is 21 July.
We start at 12.30 and run until 5.30. Unbelievably - the event is free.Bring a picnic or enjoy the hog roast, bar and teas.
