It is tragic that this elderly lady should have been left stranded. She had no one was in touch with her for a nine day period. I do not know the circumstances in this particular case, but it should be a warning to everyone who knows of an elderly person, friend, or neighbour, who is being "cared" for by outside agencies, whether it be social services or care companies, to keep in touch on a regular basis.
I know that we all lead busy lives, but just a few minutes for a phone call, could be the difference between life and death.
