A carriage clock worth more than £1,000 was among the items stolen during a burglary at an elderly couple's home.

Jewellery the couple had bought each other over the last 30 years, cash and bank cards were also stolen from the property in Cheam Road, Sutton, between Sunday January 27 and Saturday February 2.

The cards were then used at a cash machine at Tesco in Oldfields Road, Sutton, by a stocky white man in his 30s or 40s at around 8.40pm on Saturday February 2. He was wearing a black bobble hat a black three-quarter-length Puffa-style jacket.

Items taken in the break-in include the carriage clock with the word dominion on the front and made in Britain on the back, an 18 carat double-sided gold necklace, an 18 carat gold wide band reversible earring, a nine carat gold heavy close chain link bracelet, a nine carat lightweight square link bracelet, amber stone drop earrings set in silver and a nine carat gold plated watch.
