A parish is in shock after a woman in her 70s was knocked down and killed by a car.
Lynne Anderson, 75, of Barrow Hill in Worcester Park is believed to have been leaving a friend's house on foot when she was struck by a car in icy conditions in the area near her home on Monday.
Mrs Anderson, who is believed to be a mum-of-two, was a regular in the congregation at St Mary the Virgin Cuddington in The Avenue where she also arranged flowers.
Rev Andy Cain said: "The parish is in shock. The thoughts and prayers of all at St Mary's Church are with the families and friends of those involved in this tragic accident."
The church held a prayer meeting today and will be open every day this week for those who wish to come and pay their respects.
Mrs Anderson is thought to have lived near the church in The Avenue until moving to Barrow Hill recently.
Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service were called to the collision between Mrs Anderson and a Ford car at 10.20pm on Monday.
A police spokesman said all the people in the area at the time have been interviewed and an investigation is underway.
