The Claygate Recreation Ground Trust needs more room, after the cafe at the new clubhouse became more popular than expected.
The clubhouse, home to Claygate Cricket Club and Claygate Royals Football Club, has been attracting a wide range of community groups.
Claygate Recreation Ground’s £360,000 clubhouse opened in May 2012 and includes changing facilities and a cafe.
The concept of The Pavilion Cafe only grew when the construction of the building was taking place.
Richard Walker, project director of the clubhouse, said: “We have costed building an extension and it could be £10,000 or more and we just can’t afford that amount at the moment, so strong sheds, large containers, garages, something along those lines would be great and would help us hugely.”
Steve Wells, chairman of the Claygate Recreation Ground Trust, said: “The new facility is amazingly well-used and the changing rooms and referees room are always in use in some way or other. So we need some extra space to be able to store ancillary equipment, particularly for the cafe.”
