Crystal Palace striker Stephen Dobbie says there was just one reason he moved to Selhurst Park – because under Ian Holloway, you never know what is going to happen.
Dobbie, who made the move from Brighton & Hove Albion in the January transfer window, played under Holloway while on loan at Blackpool and was part of the side defeated by West Ham in last season’s Championship play-off final.
The Scot, who would eventually leave parent club Swansea City for the south coast in August last year, has rejoined Holloway on loan until the end of the season.
Now, having made three appearances for his old friend, Dobbie is certain Holloway can lead the Eagles to the promised land of the Premier League.
“When the chance to come here under the gaffer came up, I jumped at it,” said the 30-year-old former Queen of the South man.
“I’m just relishing every minute on the pitch and if my performances continue the way I think I’ve been playing, then hopefully it’ll help the team.”
He added: “But Ian was the main reason coming here. As soon as I knew he was interested, there was no doubt where I was going. Everybody knows what a character he is.
“To work under him every day is special, you never know what’s going to happen, he’s great fun and he knows his football.
“The gaffer gives us freedom to play and express ourselves. I know what he’s all about. I know what he wants from the players and myself and at this time of year, you’ve got to put a run together.”
