A man was charged today with threatening to kill another man on Epsom Downs.
Gary Simmons, 43, Hazel Way, Chipstead, is due to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates Court in Redhill later today.
Armed police were called to the scene when reports came at 3.50pm on Tuesday and found a man, the alleged intended victim, uninjured.
A manhunt continued until Wednesday evening.
After the arrest Detective Inspector Sean Kelly, from Epsom CID, said: "Understandably this incident has caused some concern in the local community and I hope residents are reassured by this arrest.
“We have been making extensive enquiries over the last two days which may have caused some disturbance to those living and working in the area.”
Worried residents living close to Epsom Downs had reported a helicopter circling overhead on Tuesday afternoon and the closure of Grandstand Road.
Officers restricted access to Tattenham Grove at about 4pm as police carried out enquiries.
