Tennis fans can indulge on all things tennis at a new exhibition at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum.
‘Tennis on the Riviera’ opens in April and will feature fascinating French memorabilia from the early 1890s to the late 1930s; treating visitors to a visual insight into the history of tennis culture on the Riviera.
Distinguished visitors to the area include Maud Watson, the first Ladies’ Singles Champion at Wimbledon, Charles Lavey Sweet, Richard Sears and Dr James Dwight0 affectionately referred to as “The Father of American Tennis.”
To support the new exhibit, the Museum is releasing a book titled The History of Tennis on the Riviera 1874-1939, written by Alan Little.
The Wimbledon Museum Shop is also re-opening having been upgraded. The shop is now located next to the main entrance, which is visible from Gate 4.
Ashley Jones, Commercial Manager of the Museum said: ““We believe the reinvented Wimbledon Museum Shop and our latest ‘Tennis on the Riviera’ exhibition will go beyond visitor expectations, and we are proud to be offering such a unique experience to fans from all around the world.”
