Croydon African Caribbean Family Organisation (CAFCO) hosted an evening with the "charismatic" High Commissioner for Jamaica on Friday.
Her Excellency, Aloun Ndombet-Assamba spoke with a large audience of Jamaican nationals on a range of topics including Jamaica's economy, air fares and tourism.
She also spoke about the island's ambitions to become a republic and spoke of her time as a lawyer and politician in Jamaica and her role here as High Commissioner.
Ms Ndombet-Assamba took up office in May 2012, and is also Jamaica's non-resident Ambassador to Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Ireland.
The High Commissioner also outlined a number of events being staged throughout the year and encouraged those attending and the wider Jamaican community to actively engage with the High Commission and to make use of the services it provides.
