Visitors were invited to put forward ideas for improving Balham by writing on helium balloons.
A pretend hot air balloon was set up in the Balham Community Space, in Bedford Hill, Balham over the weekend to launch a public consultation.
It comes after the area is being granted £1.9m from the Mayor of London's Outer London fund programme, which is being spent to encourage people to invest in Balham.
Funding will be used to improve the railway bridge, improve the community space and create public artwork on the wall overlooking Waitrose car park.
The council's design team were on hand to answer any questions, while performance artists provided children's entertainment.
