Shoppers have been asked to make sure they are careful after mobile phones were stolen in cafés.
Two women who left their phones on the tables in cafés had them stolen by a man who approached them and spread theatre leaflets out on the tables in front of them.
When the man was asked to leave on each occasion he scooped up the leaflets taking the phones at the same time.
The first incident happened at Café Nero in Sutton High Street at around 6pm on Thursday, January 21. The second happened in The Harrow in Cheam High Street about 30 minutes later.
Sutton crime prevention officer Duncan Harris said people should keep their mobiles in their hands or in an inside coat or jacket pocket.
