A group of energetic 90-year-olds are looking for a new member to operate their Wii Fit.

Wallington and Beddington senior citizen's club are keen to get active again with their Nintendo games console after the last operator sadly passed away.

When the group were offered several PC's three years ago by their Wallington-based sponsors Penta Consulting, the group politely said thanks but no thanks.

Penta's managing director Paul Clark explained: "Initially we offered the senior citizen's club internet training but they came back to us and said they would much prefer a Nintendo Wii so they could have fun keeping fit together."

But since the only member of the 50-strong who could operate the device died, the games system - which allows them to play tennis, golf and even aerobics - has been sat gathering dust.

Malcolm Smith, who runs the group, said they are a lively bunch.

He said: "Most of the group are in their 80's and 90's but that doesn't stop them. They have missed using the Wii Fit, there has just been nobody around to work it.

We have great fun and the club and Penta have been very good to us. We go on three outings a year together, in fact at Christmas we went to Wimbledon Theatre to watch Priscilla Queen of the Desert and by the end of the show all the group were up and dancing. You wouldn't think they were their age."

The group meet at the guide hall off Wallington Green on Mondays and are always looking for volunteers to help.
