The Brooklands College motorsport team made their first outing of the season at Silverstone.

The day was a full test to evaluate the performance of the team’s car prior to the first race of the season and to develop pit stop techniques.

After setting the car up in the garage and carrying out the belt and seat fittings for the drivers, the car was ready to run.

The students practised pit stops and driver changes and carried out vehicle checks before sending another driver out.

After the session, the car was checked over by the students and data was analysed from the onboard data logger, to assess each of the drivers’ performance.

Driver Jonathan Nicholls said: “These students have shown that not only can they prepare a competitive car back at our workshops, they can also run a race car in a very professional manner and improve its performance over the course of a day.”

The team are now preparing for a season’s racing in the Motorsport Vision Team Trophy series which could see them racing at Snetterton, Donnington, Cadwell Park, Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
