Vision Express has been warned for allowing an unqualified student to work as a dispensing optician in Croydon.
The General Optical Council said the company had committed serious misconduct for allowing Mohammed Sheikh to practice in its Centrale shopping centre branch in 2010 before he was registered as a professional.
The case was heard along with cases for eight other similar misdemeanours related to Vision Express earlier this month.
Vision Express said disciplinary action would be taken.
