Regarding the article on the Jubilee health centre (Health centre troubles to be resolved, February 21) in which Mr Tom Brake MP has said the blood testing facility problem will hopefully be resolved by March and the service will be up and running again for the residents of Wallington.
I myself needed to go for a blood test but I was unable to go to the Jubilee centre recently and I was told by the receptionist there I had to go to St Helier or Sutton hospitals.
I attended St Helier blood testing department last week on a Monday and I waited nearly an hour-and-a-half before I was called as I was number 89 in the queue. There were lots of people
after me waiting and when I left the department was still crowded with patients.
I cannot really understand why a new health centre like the Jubilee, which cost such a large amount of money to build, £13m I believe, has problems with fire and water safety.
As someone else pointed out in a letter in the Sutton Guardian recently over-loading on the staff at St Helier because of patients having to go there for blood testing puts extra stress on the staff and patients.
I must say though the staff at the blood testing service do a great job under such difficult
circumstances.
