People living in care homes run by Walton Charity will see no increase in service charges this year.

The charity runs two sheltered housing schemes, Mayfield and Fenner House, and residential care home for the frail elderly, Sherwood House.

At Sherwood House, all rates and charges will remain at the same level as last year.

The charity’s two sheltered housing schemes will see charges increase in line with Government regulations.

Residents claiming housing benefit will be better off than they were last year, after the charity was able to reduce other charges.

Self-funding residents will see a below-inflation increase in charges.

The charity has been able to make several improvements in the past year, with communal areas at Fenner House updated, a new fire system installed and additional parking bays provided.

At Mayfield, the communal gardens are being re-landscaped and at Sherwood new medical beds have been purchased for all rooms. Safes for residents’ valuables are currently being fitted in each room.
