Robbery, burglary and domestic violence suspects were among criminal targeted by the Met police in a day of co-ordinated activity.
Uniform and CID officers were joined by colleagues from other departments from across the force and carried out arrest enquiries, search warrants, licensing enforcement and ANPR operations. High visibility patrols were also part of the operation.
A total of 28 people were arrested throughout the day, with six search warrants executed by uniform and plain-clothed officers across the borough from 6am.
Among items seized class A&B drgs, drugs paraphernalia and suspected stolen mobile phones and Oyster cards.
Officers were given their operational briefings out on the streets and Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) held street briefings to speak with and engage with residents about issues including crime and anti-social behaviour.
Croydon Borough Commander Chief Superintendent Richard Wood said: "Operation Big Wing is about showing those who live and work in Croydon that we are listening to their concerns and that we’re committed to taking robust preventative and disruptive action to stop criminal activity and make their communities safer."
