Sutton’s chief exec has written to the GPs taking over Sutton’s healthcare about the "catalogue of errors" carried out by a healthcare review threatening St Helier hospital.

In the letter, leaked to the Sutton Guardian, Niall Bolger wrote to Brendan Hudson the chair of the Sutton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to share concerns raised by his council colleagues about the Better Services Better Value (BSBV) review.

He said: "Our concerns stem from the belief that this has been a pre-determined, flawed process which is losing credibility and risks causing irretrievable damage to the excellent services provided by the Epsom and St Helier Trust."

He lists "critical flaws" in the BSBV process including weak financial modelling and inadequate plans for public consultation.

From April, CCGs will be responsible for local health services and any changes proposed by BSBV must be agreed by them.

A spokesperson for Sutton CCG said: "GPs in Sutton want to see improving standards for our patients.

Sutton CCG is an active member of the BSBV programme and will be part of the decision-making.

"We have put forward challenges to the BSBV programme and asked for more engagement with the people of Sutton, which is now happening."
