An early morning TV drama with a difference took place this morning, when a television caught fire in a child's bedroom.
Firefighters were called to a flat in Millside, Carshalton, at 5.30am, where the TV was believed to have caught alight when the family were still sleeping.
Fortunately a smoke alarm had gone off and the three residents had already fleed the building by the time the fire brigade arrived.
The fire was brought quickly under control and the family was sent to St Helier Hospital to be checked over.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the London Fire Brigade.
