Wimbledon star Laura Robson turned the form book on its head to reach the second round of the Wimbledon Championships.
On court number one, in front of a partisan crowd, the 19-year-old from Wimbledon beat the 10th seed Maria Kirilenko in straight sets, 6-3 6-4, in what turned out to be a straight-forward victory.
In a match dominated with power-hitting from the base-line, it was Robson who found the lines better and, in many cases, left last year’s Wimbledon quarter-finalist swiping at air.
Robson now faces Mariana Duque-Marino in the next round.
