Laura Robson is out of Wimbledon 2013 after a straight sets defeat to Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.
The British number one fell on the wrong side of tight finishes in both sets, going down 7-6 7-5, and missing out on a place in the quarter-finals.
There was little between Kanepi, ranked eight places below Robson in the world, and the 19-year-old Brit, with only three breaks in 24 games.
And it took Kanepi, who said earlier in the day that the pressure of having the crowd against her would spur her on, five attempts to get the match winner.
Again Robson struggled with her serve, only hitting the spot 57 per cent of the time, and her game from the back of the court was off on too many occasions leading to 24 unforced errors, six more than her opponent.
However, the last 16 is the furthest Robson has reached in her senior Wimbledon career, and there is much to suggest that she will be there again.
Reaction to follow.
