Andy Murray has revealed how he turned staring a Wimbledon defeat square in the face, into a place in the Championship semi-finals.

The British US Open champion came back from two sets down against Fernando Verdasco to win 3-2, and set up a last four clash against Jerzy Janowicz tomorrow.

It was the first time that Murray had dropped any sets at SW19 this year, but the 26-year-old reacted to win 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 7-5.

Murray said: "It was a tough situation. The second set was a bad set of tennis for me. 

"I was 3-1 up and then made some bad mistakes, poor choices on the court. I gave too many free points away in the second set. Then I turned it round really well after that.

"I thought about what I was doing wrong and the best way to get myself to get back into the match. 

"I changed tactics a little bit, was more patient and took a bit longer between points.

"I didn't rush and didn't get him any free points after that."

All that stands between Murray and a second consecutive Wimbledon final now is the 24th seed from Poland.

Murray said: "It will be a very tough match. He has a big serve and he's a big guy with a lot of power. 

"But he also has a pretty good touch, he likes to hit dropshots - he doesn't just whack every single shot as hard as he can.

"He's played extremely well here. He had a tough match in the last round against Jurgen Melzer, but apart from that he's been pretty convincing."
