Families went behind the scenes at a wild animal hospital founded by a wildlife champion and TV presenter on Sunday.
Despite the glorious weather, fewer people than usual turned out to the open day at the Wildlife Aid Foundation’s centre for sick, injured and orphaned animals in Leatherhead.
WAF founder Simon Cowell, known for documentary series Wildlife SOS, thanked everyone who came, the volunteers who organised the day and supporters who donated items to stalls.
Mr Cowell said: "It was a hugely enjoyable day for everyone who came, but we were seriously down on numbers this time and that will I'm sure be reflected in the amount of money raised.
"I think it shows how much more difficult it is nowadays to get people along to charity fundraising events. The economic climate is still bad, even here in relatively affluent Surrey.
"All charities are affected, not just WAF. These are tough times."
