The neighbour of Tia Sharp's grandmother is due to stand trial today accused of wasting police time during their investigation into the schoolgirl’s murder.
Paul Meehan lived next door to the 12-year-olds' grandmother Christine Sharp in The Lindens, New Addington, where Tia's body was eventually found.
The 40-year-old who now lives in South Norwood, is accused of knowingly giving police wrong information during their search for Tia, who was reported missing on August 2, 2012.
He is due to stand trial at Croydon Magistrates Court today. He denies the charge.
Stuart Hazell the former partner of Ms Sharp, was jailed for 38 years in May, after changing his plea to guilty five days into the murder trial.
