The son of a man who died of a heart attack while talking to police officers has been charged with a public order offence.

Luke Wigmore, 19, of Molesworth Road, is one of two men charged today with public order offences connected to a large-scale fight in Cobham in the early hours of Sunday, July 21.

Witnesses said the fight involved up to 20 men, some with baseball bats.

Police said the incident was believed to be linked to a disturbance at Cobham Village Club the night before.

Paul Wigmore, 54, described by a friend as "a loving, caring, generous and kind man" died due to a coronary heart disease after collapsing while speaking to police investigating the brawl.

Officers had stopped him in Anyards Road as his van had left the area near Hamilton Avenue, where the fight took place.

It is not clear if there is any suggestion he was involved in the brawl.

Three men were initially arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on bail until September 13 while the investigation continues.

Police arrested another three men on Friday, July 26, on suspicion of affray, assault and criminal damage.

Graham Ellwood, 50, of Brooklands Road in Weybridge, has been charged with a public order offence and possession of an offensive weapon.

Luke Wigmore, 19, of Molesworth Road in Cobham was charged with a public order offence.

Both men are due to appear at North Surrey Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, August 13.

A man in his 20s who was also arrested on suspicion of affray has been released on police bail until September.
