The Duke of Kent joined the mayor of Croydon at the official opening of a refurbished care home last week.
Prince Edward and Councillor Yvette Hopley met staff and residents at James Terry Court in Haling Park Road, South Croydon, during the visit on July 24.
As part of the refurbishment the home- which is run by the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI), now has en-suite wet rooms and showers in all bedrooms, an on-site hair salon and pamper room and a new dementia wing with dedicated garden.
James Terry Court now consists of east and west wings, doubling the home's size to 76 rooms.
Home manager Diane Collins, said: "This was a huge project for RMBI and the residents and staff of James Terry Court.
"Building work took three years and we are very proud that we were able to keep all residents in the home while the work took place."
