An artistic pupil's 'I Love Purley' design has bagged her school £250.
Tesco Extra in Purley launched a competition inviting nearby schools to design a poster illustrating why they love their area and 10-year-old Emma Sawyer was crowned the winner.
The Margaret Roper Primary School pupil will see her design feature on limited edition re-usable bags that will be given away to shoppers on August 12, when the store holds a re-launch ceremony to celebrate their recent refurbishment.
Emma and her classmates were invited to the store on Purley Road, where manager Richard Frear presented Emma with a £50 Tesco gift card and gave her teacher a giant cheque for £250.
Mr Frear said: "All the entries were fantastic, but we really liked Emma's 'I love Purley' poster."
Margaret Roper headteacher Dermot Mooney said: "We are very proud of Emma and are really excited about seeing her design on Tesco bags.
"The school prize money will be used to pay for resources to paint a mural to brighten up our playground."
