A charity that supports adults and young people with learning disabilities is urgently seeking volunteers.
Elmbridge Mencap, which operates at Burview Hall, Walton, wants new volunteers to become trustees and help at social sessions each week.
A volunteer handyman to help with the ongoing maintenance of the Queens Road hall is also needed.
More than 200 people use the services provided by Elmbridge Mencap, including two sensory rooms, a games room and a hall with access to a garden and woodland area.
Jean Rigden, chairwoman of Elmbridge Mencap, said “The volunteers who help at the clubs, jumble sales and fairs are greatly appreciated – this willing band of helpers, who give up their time on a regular basis, are the core of Elmbridge Mencap.
“I have been a volunteer here for many years and it is hugely rewarding, as well as lots of fun”.
The charity runs a youth club for 16 to 25 year olds and another club, called Nova, for those aged 25 and over.
In the past year, Elmbridge Mencap has secured more than £6,000 of funding for its activities, including £5,000 from the Elmbridge Council jubilee fund.
