A handsome alley cat was knocked down by a car just outside his favourite boozer.

Middle-aged stray Woody, who is a regular at the Woodman Pub in Carshalton, was found injured by a member of staff on their way to work two weeks ago.

The Woodman pub in Carshalton

Woody, who is known to pop in to Carshalton All Saints Church on his way to the pub, was hit by a car and sustained a badly fractured pelvis.

Friendly Woody was rescued by the Riverside Animal Centre, in Beddington Park, where he is on pain relief and undergoing a strict six weeks of cage rest.

Centre manager, Ted Burden, said: “He is a well-known regular cat but can’t necessarily go back there as he could go outside into the road.

“He suffered a fractured pelvis and we have to give him pain killers twice a day.

“It was a nasty accident really. He’s doing alright – he can walk about.

“So long as his pelvis gets better and he can walk we will try to re-home him.”

Woody will now need a permanent home along with the other 29 cats at the centre.
