A car enthusiast believes thieves followed him home so they could steal his home made motor buggy just days after he finished it.

Robert Ware spent almost a year building the buggy and is now offering a reward to anyone who can help him get it back after it was taken from his garage in Godalming Avenue, Wallington, overnight between Sunday and Monday.

Mr Ware said: "I spent the best part of a year building it and after three days using it someone has stolen from my garage. I think they must have spotted it and followed me home, otherwise I don't know how they would know it was there.

"It's very distinctive - it's one of a kind - and it's very noisy so people would notice it if it's being used.

"I hope someone out there will see it or hear it in their area."

Mr Ware bought the buggy as a project and spent 10 months building it. The road legal, 800cc buggy was originally manufactured by a company called Saiting but Mr Ware made almost all the parts in the vehicle himself.

If you have any information about Mr Ware's buggy, you can contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
