A redhead who claimed to be a gardener stole an elderly woman's purse from a handbag in a kitchen.
The man knocked on the door in Stoneleigh to offer gardening services at about 6pm on Sunday, July 28.
The elderly woman went to the door and he followed her into the house and stole a black purse containing £20 from her handbag in the kitchen.
The white man, about 5ft 8ins, spoke with a local accent and wore a navy vest top and jeans.
Detective Constable Steph Worrell, from Surrey Police, appealed for people with information to come forward and said: "Crimes of this nature against elderly members of society are inexcusable and we will do all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice."
Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference EP/13/3224, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
