Brit-award winning dance group Stereo MCs will be topping the bill at the launch of this year’s Oxjam Kingston music festival .

The electronic outfit – best known for their 1992 global hit Connected – will be playing a headline DJ set this Saturday, August 3, to mark the start of the 2013 Oxjam fundraising campaign.

This year’s Oxjam Kingston festival will be held on Saturday, October 19, across several venues.

Saturday’s launch event takes place between 2pm and 11.30pm at The Cricketers pub in Fairfield South.

As well as Stereo MCs in the evening, there will be live performances throughout the day from artists living in or around the area, including Millie Manders, Tim OT, The 150 Friends Clubs, Bad Girls, Lauren Ray, Davey Hardman, Foxtrot Darling, Will Paintin and PJ Fothergill.

There will also be a quiz, bingo and a raffle, with prizes donated by Clarence Street retailer Tiger.

Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door. For more information about Oxjam Kingston, visit oxjamkingston.com.
