William Shakespeare’s story of young love and magic is being brought to the streets of Tooting.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the fourth production created by Tooting Arts Club.
The play features a cast of talented actors, including Waleed El-Gadi, whose credits include Khalid in Chris Morris’ Four Lions.
Waleed Akhtar, who recently appeared in Salmon Fishing In the Yemen, also stars.
Last year Tooting Arts Club bagged two Offie Awards, which celebrate the work of independent theatres across London.
Rachel Edwards, producer, says: “The productions we’ve staged up until now have been relatively modern in origin and this time we wanted to do something really different.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream is such a summer favourite I thought that it was a natural choice for our first classical text.”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Broadway Studios, Tooting High Street, Tooting; August 13 to September 7, doors open 7.45pm; £14; tootingartsclub.co.uk, 08456 801926.
