A community has rallied round to clean up their local area after a spate of fires.
Residents from Robertsbridge Road and Roche Walk in Carshalton filled up three skips on Tuesday (August 20) to clear the area of material which could be used to start a blaze.
The initiative involved local police officers, Sutton Council, Safer Sutton Partnership Service, Sutton Housing Partnership, Neighbourhood Watch and London Fire Brigade.
As well as residents being able to get rid of their own rubbish, low level offenders from the Community Payback initiative were supervised picking up litter on the open space.
Wandle Valley PCSO Sarah Holland-Baker said: "The speed that residents filled up the skips shows that they were keen to get rid of their rubbish and to help improve their local neighbourhood."
