Chris Urch, an upcoming actor and playwright, is set to premiere his new full-length play Land of Our Fathers above The Latchmere pub in Battersea next month.
The play, set in 1979, describes the experiences of a group of Welsh miners trapped in a coalmine for two weeks.
Over this period everything these men believe in and everything they know will have changed.
Howard Brenton, British playwright, has been championing the production.
He said: "I think Chris is a brilliant talent.
"I don’t think this is an exaggeration - I think he could become the British Tennessee Williams.
"Given the good breaks, I’m convinced he’s capable of writing a great body of work."
