A heart screening day will be held in New Malden courtesy of a charity set up in memory of a former Tiffin schoolboy.
The Neil Desai Foundation is funding a whole day of electrocardiogram (ECG) tests at Malden Wanderers Cricket Club in Cambridge Avenue on Friday, August 30.
An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart, and can detect abnormalities early. The screenings will be carried out by Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
Aspiring barrister Neil Desai, from New Malden, died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) while on holiday with his girlfriend in Malaga on September 5, 2008 – his 22nd birthday.
His family and friends started the Neil Desai Foundation in his memory, and has paid £3,500 for the screening day.
